Engineering Digital Assistant for Vessels
We have developed an intelligent digital assistant to support the technical operations of a major shipping company. The solution enables onshore engineering teams to interact with proprietary vessel data using natural language, making it easier to access critical information, automate workflows, and deliver accurate technical guidance to vessels.
For this project, the assistant has been adapted to operate within the Technical Department, with the objective of streamlining vessel monitoring and maintenance processes. It is trained exclusively on client-specific documentation (including equipment manuals, system drawings, service letters, and maintenance records) ensuring that all responses are precise, vessel-specific, and grounded in verified organizational knowledge.
By ingesting this wide range of technical content, the assistant allows users to query complex engineering issues in plain language. It can interpret crew-submitted technical questions, process engineering logic, and generate structured troubleshooting responses. Each response is accompanied by direct references to supporting documentation such as manual excerpts, drawings, or service bulletins, enabling technical staff to quickly validate and forward accurate solutions to the vessel.
The result is a significant reduction in response times, improved consistency in technical support, and higher operational reliability across the fleet.
