AI-Driven Predictive Maintenance for Fleet-Wide Operations
We have developed a custom predictive maintenance platform designed to monitor and safeguard the performance of a fleet operating worldwide. The platform continuously tracks the health of engines and other critical machinery components, applying advanced AI models to identify anomalies and emerging risks well before they escalate into failures.
By centralizing condition monitoring across the entire fleet, the platform provides operators with a unified view of vessel performance, enabling proactive interventions, optimized maintenance scheduling, and significant reductions in unplanned downtime.
One notable case illustrating the platform’s value involved four bulk carrier vessels, where the system detected irregularities in the oil feed system (Alpha Lubricators). Early detection revealed that incorrect prior maintenance procedures were causing improper cylinder oil feed rates. Addressing this issue prevented accelerated wear of high-value components such as cylinder liners, piston rings, and piston crowns. The potential savings in repair costs exceeded USD 80,000 per vessel, with further reductions in lubricant consumption of up to 70%. Importantly, these vessels had no built-in alarms to detect the anomaly—highlighting the unique value of the platform’s predictive capabilities.
